Straight back from the Busch North race at
Dover, Eddie and the crew spent Saturday the 25th until four in the morning
putting a Late Model together for Sunday's New England Dodge Dealers 150 at
Lee USA Speedway. On a perfect day, 76 entries showed for the biggest Late Model event ever held in New England. Starting ninth in the fifth heat, Eddie secured an immediate spot in the feature with a third place finish (only the top three transferred). With grid spots determined by a handicapping scheme that took into account how many spots were gained or lost in the heats/concis/B Main, Eddie started on the outside pole next to the eventual race winner D.J. Kennington from Ontario. The #17 led lap one then Kennington in the #39 took over for lap two. Eddie ran in the top three till about lap 40 then fell back a few more spots. Laps 60 to 64 saw three yellows fly. On lap 64, Eddie, Dave Whitcomb, Mike Olsen, Dale Shaw, and Tom Fearn tangle in turn three. An exhausted Eddie shows his disappointment as the #17 is too damaged to continue. |
