Eddie 6th at Busch East
Series race at Adirondack on Sat. July 28th Eddie MacDonald finished sixth in the Busch East Series 150 lap race at Adirondack International Speedway in the Grimm Construction Chevy. The part-time BES competitor was pleased with the run despite having to start 21st on the grid by points when qualifying was canceled due to rain and time constraints. “It is too bad we couldn’t qualify because we really had a fast car. We were fifth fastest in practice and we feel we would have definitely been near the front. Starting 21st puts you in danger of getting caught up in a wreck but we were lucky not to get tangled up in anything,” said the Rowley, Mass. driver. When the green flag waved MacDonald made a move to the outside and was able to pass a number of cars trying to get to the top ten but had to pay a price for his efforts saying, “We used the car up early making all those passes on the outside but we had to do it in order to get to the front. This probably would not have happened if we had the chance to qualify. That is why it is so important to start in the top five.” MacDonald was able to maintain his position in the top ten but was unable to pass any of the lead cars. The #71 got together with the #52 causing a valve stem to break sending him to the pits with ten laps to go. After making an adjustment and adding fresh tires, MacDonald was able to return to the track for the final ten laps and make his way to sixth before the checkered flag flew. “When I got back on the track, I was able to pass a lot of cars on the outside. The car was really handling well with the tires but we ran out of time and finished sixth. I am happy with our run considering we had that flat tire at the end. We always want to finish in the top five but we will be happy with this.” “We were very pleased to drive Rob Grimm’s car again and I look forward to driving it at Mansfield Speedway in August. We are currently hanging a new body on our road course for Lime Rock. We will also drive our own car in the Loudon race. I can’t thank enough all the people and sponsors who have stepped up this season to help us again. New England Mechanical Overlay, Hancock Electric, Hanover Place, Tri-State Roofing, Stripers Grill, and Grimm Construction have been great to Rollie, the crew, and myself. If it wasn’t for these folks, we wouldn’t be here today,” said a very thankful MacDonald. |

The Edge Hotel 150 Race ResultsSource: NASCAR Public Relations BEAVER FALLS, N.Y. – (July 28) Joey Logano led an amazing final quarter-lap to take his fourth NASCAR Busch East Series win of the season at Adirondack International Speedway in Beaver Falls, N.Y. Saturday night. Logano was fifth when the race restarted after the event’s seventh and final caution flag. After the restart, the race’s dominant leader, Matt Kobyluck, was assessed a penalty for jumping the green flag, dramatically altering the event’s outcome. Kobyluck then pitted on lap 146 and returned to the event without the possibility of winning. Bryon Chew inherited the lead when Kobyluck made his penalty stop, heavily pressured by Sean Caisse, the event’s defending winner, and Logano. On the final lap the leaders bunched as Rogelio Lopez spun to grass at the bottom of turn four. Unaware the leaders were about to overtake him, Lopez returned to the racing surface with Chew leading Logano and Caisse toward the checkered flag. Logano (No. 20 Joe Gibbs Driven Chevrolet) dove to the low side of Chew in turn four, and squeezed through an opening between the charging car of Chew on his outside and the limping car of Lopez on the inside. Logano led from the exit of turn four to the finish line to snatch a seemingly impossible win. Chew (No. 99 Buzz Chew Chevrolet) finished second in the sprint, followed by Caisse (No. 44 Casella Waste Management Chevrolet). Marc Davis (No. 18 Joe Gibbs Driver Chevrolet) finished fourth, followed by Peyton Sellers (No. 83 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet). Completing the top-10 were Eddie MacDonald, Dion Ciccarelli, Chase Austin, Jerry Marquis, and James Pritchard, Jr.
